Cow stuck in dried-up pond near rice field rescued
A cow stuck in a dried-up pond near a rice paddy was rescued in Thailand.
The bovine climbed down the ditch while grazing, but its weight caused half of its body to submerge in the sludge upon climbing down in Sa Kaeo province near the Cambodian border on May 2.
It struggled to crawl out but to no avail as the hot sun baked the mud around it until it was found by its owner and called for help.
Footage shows the cow's owners digging under the mud around the animal's body before tying a rope and pulling it with a tractor.
The farmers were able to save the cow with the help of machinery. It was unhurt and walked home with its owners.
Cow owner Saowanee, 38, said: ‘I was letting my cows out to let them eat grass.
‘One of them approached the pond near the rice field and stepped where the water had dried up, getting stuck in the mud due to its size.
‘Therefore, I reached out to the rescue team and locals to help dig the soil out, fed it with water, and put up an umbrella to shield it from the heat while waiting for the tractor to pull it out.'
