Nigerian gang members were arrested for smuggling cocaine and counterfeit banknotes into Thailand.

Footage shows the raid inside a condominium apartment where the four foreigners from Nigeria were caught with the fake 100 USD bills inside one of their suitcases in Bangkok on January 11.

Police Lieutenant General Khirisak Tantinawachai, the chief of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, said they conducted the operation 'Mouse Hunt 2' after Thai women were allegedly being enticed by the men to sell drugs to tourists along the Sukhumvit Road nightlife strip.

Mouse Hunt 2 was a follow-up of the drug bust Mouse Hunt in October last year, where they caught seven drug traffickers, including a Thai wife married to one of them whose bank account was being used to move their money.

Authorities initiated surveillance on the activities of the gang, who were identified as low-level drug sellers operating in the Sukhumvit area.

The authorities successfully arrested four Nigerians, identified as Fabian Ikechukwu, Nnabuife Prince, Amajioyi Austin Chigizie, and Nicholas Mbah Ndubisi, along with one Ivorian, Assi Yapi Landry.

Among the arrested individuals, one faced charges related to illegal immigration, while three were found to be overstaying.

In addition, the authorities uncovered a significant amount of dollar banknotes and black silver.

The suspects were also charged with importing and distributing Category I narcotics in the form of cocaine and forging foreign currency, carrying a fine ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 baht (4,330.96 to 8661.92 GBP). The maximum penalty, if they are unable to mediate with police, is life imprisonment.

The authorities said that the gang smuggled cocaine from South America into neighbouring countries and then into Thailand.

They allegedly enticed Thai women to be their girlfriends and deceived them into smuggling drugs into the country.
