Chinese girl comforts little bird that has lost its companion
On May 1, 2024, a poignant scene unfolded on a busy road in Yixing, Jiangsu, where a red-billed starling was found deceased in a car accident.
In a display of fidelity and sorrow, its companion stood vigil beside the body, unmoving and with a look of desolation.
A girl noticed its sorrow and, with her parents, moved the bird from the middle of the road to the safety of the roadside, and they buried the deceased bird.
Worried that the surviving bird was too heartbroken, the girl gently stroked its head with a twig to comfort it. After about half an hour of comforting, the bird flew away.
