STORYLINE:

Turkish police detained 30 suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) group in raids across Türkiye, the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Monday.

The operations dubbed "Bozdogan-35" were carried out across nine provinces, including Istanbul, Adana, Ankara, Diyarbakir, Osmaniye, Yozgat, Mersin Hatay and Kutahya, Yerlikaya said in a post on social media platform X, without specifying the time of the operation.

Among the suspects, 14 allegedly handled ammunition on behalf of the group and organized smuggling activities, according to the testimonies of group members who had been detained, the minister said.

Yerlikaya said that unlicensed pistols, a large number of organizational documents and digital materials were seized in the raids.

The Turkish government designated IS a terrorist organization in 2013, blaming it for a spate of deadly attacks in the country since 2015.
