The Kagoshima Volcano erupted sending smoke 4,300 feet high in Japan.

Footage shows the peak, also known as 'Sakurajima', belching lava and volcanic gas in the Kagoshima prefecture at 9:31 pm local time on May 5.

The smoke and ash plume reached up to 4,300 feet tall and drifted towards Aira City, local media reported.

This eruption marks the 14th explosive event recorded at the volcano this year.

Japan lies along the western edge of the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
