Tourists stuck on cliff face hour-long delays amidst Labour Day rush in China
Tourists have been stranded halfway up a cliff for an hour while experiencing the thrill of climbing in eastern China.
Video filmed in Wenzhou City in Zhejiang Province on May 4 shows numerous climbers getting stuck on a cliffside, unable to move, with the steep precipice dotted with people clinging on for dear life.
Amidst this precarious situation, the stranded tourists could only wait cautiously, unwilling to let their guard down.
In response to the incident, the Yandang Mountain scenic area stated that during the Labour Day holidays, the influx of visitors led to congestion on the routes, occasionally resulting in delays of one to two hours.
Staff members were deployed to manage the congestion and regulate the flow of tourists. For those in need, rescue services were available at a cost of 300 yuan (£33) per person.
Previously, rescue services were provided free of charge, but due to an increasing number of individuals intentionally calling for rescue while enjoying the thrill of rappelling, the policy was changed to impose a fee for rescue operations.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
