A huge fire has gutted dozens of merchants' shops in Padang, Indonesia, on May 7.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities but one trader suffered serious burns to both his hands.

It took firefighters almost five hours to extinguish the blaze.

Tuesday 7 May 2024 - Dozens of merchant shops at Pasar Raya Padang, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia, caught fire at 13.30 western Indonesian time.

As a result of this incident, traders' losses are estimated to reach tens of billions of rupiah.

There were no fatalities, but one trader suffered serious burns to both hands. The trader received treatment from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) medical staff.

It took firefighters almost 5 hours to extinguish the blaze in the building. As well as deploying a fleet of 12 fire engines.

This fire incident is the worst condition that has ever occurred at Pasar Raya Padang, which is the center of wholesale trade and printing businesses in West Sumatra.
