Milwaukee, WI, USA - May 2, 2024

In a heartwarming ceremony filled with gratitude and fond memories, Mitchell International Airport bid farewell to its beloved furry agent, Rex, on May 2nd. Rex, a 6.5-year-old explosive detection K-9, is hanging up his vest after years of dedicated service safeguarding travelers.

Recognized as one of Milwaukee's friendliest and furriest agents, Rex has been an integral part of the airport's TSA team, working tirelessly alongside his handler, Regina Eisenberg, for five years. Eisenberg, reflecting on their partnership, emphasized the remarkable bond she shares with Rex, noting his exceptional skills in explosive detection.

To commemorate Rex's service, TSA agents organized a special retirement ceremony, honoring his contributions to airport security. Tim Goodman, assistant federal security director at TSA Wisconsin, highlighted Rex's invaluable role in enhancing security measures at Mitchell International Airport.

As Rex embarks on his retirement journey, he will transition from a working dog to a cherished companion, relishing the opportunity to enjoy pets and leisurely strolls. Eisenberg expressed gratitude for the support and camaraderie shown by airport staff, who showered Rex with toys and affection during the ceremony.
