A Thai street food pancake was listed as the fourth best in the world.

Footage shows the savoury-sweet snack called Khanom Khrok being prepared at a stall.

The Croatian travel website TasteAtlas was given recognition on February 5 under the ‘Top 85 Pancakes in the World', receiving a rating of 4.5 stars and ranking fourth.

TasteAtlas described the pancake as a ‘small-sized Thai dessert, often referred to as a pancake, pudding, or cake, is made with a batter combining rice flour and coconut milk.'

It added: 'Typical additions to the custard-like filling include sliced scallions, taro, corn, or pumpkin. Khanom khrok is a staple street food in Thailand, enjoyed as a quick and filling snack that balances sweet and savoury flavours extremely well.'

Khanom Khrok's fourth place was preceded by France's crepes in first place, Austria's kaiserschmarrn in second place, and China's Jianbing in third place.

Apart from Khanom Khrok, two other Thai desserts, Roti Sai Mai and Khanom Tokyo, were listed in the rankings, with Roti Sai Mai at 75th place and Khanom Tokyo at 85th place.

Khanom krok are small, cup-shaped desserts made from a batter of rice flour, coconut milk, and sugar. The defining characteristic is that they have a crispy outer shell surrounding a soft, steamed interior.
