A boatman during his voyage resolutely dived into the canal to save a drowning girl after hearing the yelling of her family from the river bank.

The video was filmed in Yancheng, southern China, on May 4, 2024.

The couple on the ship saw a group of people pointing to the water and yelling: “Help! Someone was falling into the water!”

Noticing a motionless child floating on the surface, Mr. Yu stopped the ship before rescue. Despite his fear of being pulled into the water by the suction from passing boat propellers, the captain jumped into the canal with a life ring without hesitation, and he managed to rescue to girl.

After he rescued the child and brought her ashore, he realized she was a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl who was still conscious but her body had become limp.

He reminded the people on shore to quickly contact the hospital and the police to have the girl treated. The people on shore said they had already made the call but help hadn't arrived yet.

Mr. Yu returned to another stopped boat and asked the boat owner to take him back to his own boat to continue his voyage.
