Rescue operation safely retrieves 13-foot python in northern India
A colossal python was captured and later released after it ventured into the fields in northern India's Uttarakhand.
The incident occurred at Ismailpur village in the Haridwar district on May 5.
Visuals depicted the efforts made to capture the python. Rescuers were seen carrying the python, which had to be subdued with the help of bamboo sticks. The size of the snake was immense, making the rescue operation even more challenging. Subsequently, it was released back into the wild.
Speaking to Newslions, Sailendra Negi, Range Officer for Haridwar & Lasker, stated, "When nearby farmers spotted the python, they were shocked by its size. The forest department was immediately notified. Upon receiving the information, a team from the Laksar Forest Department, led by him, arrived at the scene and commenced the rescue operation at 10 am. After extensive effort, the python, hidden in the bushes, was successfully rescued by 12 pm."
He also added that the python measured approximately 13 feet in length and weighed around 1.25 quintals. Therefore, it took time for the forest workers to rescue it. However, with the assistance of the villagers, the forest workers successfully rescued the giant python and released it into the forested area.
