USA: LAPD Officers Injured in DUI Crash in Echo Park, LA

LAPD Northeast officers were in the process of impounding a vehicle on Stadium Way at Lilac Terrace when an occupied LAPD patrol unit was struck by a vehicle shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Officers requested backup for assistance taking the driver into custody. The driver was arrested for felony DUI, confirmed the LAPD.
One officer was inside the vehicle and the other officer was outside the vehicle when they were struck, according to Officer Drake Madison, spokesperson for the LAPD. "Both officers complained of pain and were transported to a local hospital and released."
Officers completed an officer-involved traffic collision/arrest report, according to Madison.
