The largest space weather event in over two decades is impacting earth resulting in a spectacular Northern lights (Aurora Borealis) show on May 10, 2024.

Beginning on May 8, 2024, several earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) resulting from X-Class flares began making their way from the sun. On May 8, 2024 the first CME was launched toward earth with two additional CME's almost back to back. Then on May 9, 2024 three more CME's were reported to be heading toward earth. The impact of the first three events resulted in an extreme G4 level storm with Aurora visible as far South as Florida, USA.

Mid-day on May 10, 2024 a seventh CME from a X-Class flare was launched toward earth. This will be a multiple-day event with strong aurora and possible utility disruptions.
