Donsol bay, Philippines 29-2-2016
After an amazing 2 dives at Manta bowl, seeing 5 whalesharks. Just at the end of the 2nd dive we encountered a big manta ray. However on closer inspection, the majestic creature was entangled in fishing line. Infact, the fishing line was so tight around the body and its mouth that its mouth appeared to be sown shut. Also the line was cutting scars into its body. 

Realising this transformed the dive from a fun dive to a rescue mission. 
Our local divemaster, Edward, realised the manta was in trouble and had stayed with us for possible help. 
Slowly Edward gained the manta's trust and calmed him. 
This video shows the amazing deed that followed. 
It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
