This is the heartwarming moment a compassionate pet lover rescued a dog that gave birth in a field during a heatwave.

Jerson Toraja, 29, retrieved the stray Askal mother dog and her puppies from a grassy field in Rizal, the Philippines, on May 7.

Footage shows the rescuer carefully placing the brown pooch and her three pups inside an insulated container.

Jerson began rescuing strays in August 2023 and has been feeding cats and dogs living on the streets.

The malnourished animal and her puppies are still under the care of the rescuer, and efforts are underway to find them permanent homes.

The country has been experiencing intense heat, causing some animals to suffer from heatstroke and severe dehydration.
