A violent storm blew away the roof of a house in northern Thailand.

Footage shows the gust battering the area along a road when the metal sheet structure came off in Phitsanulok, Thailand, on May 8.

Some parts of the wall were also damaged but no one was hurt as the property had already been abandoned according to onlookers.

Workers who were sheltering on the other side of the street where there was a sugar factory shouted to the drivers to be careful.

The Thai Meteorological Department issued warnings that day for the northern part of the country, including Phitsanulok. The agency said affected provinces would experience hot weather in the daytime and thundershowers with gusty winds and downpours in the afternoon.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
