STORYLINE:
At least five people were killed and 13 others injured on Monday morning in a road accident in the Matiari district of Pakistan's southern Sindh province, said the rescue department.
According to Rescue 1122, a passenger bus collided with a loaded trailer on the National Highway in the Sikhat area of the district.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital.
Medics feared that the death toll might further rise as at least three of the wounded are in critical condition.
The passenger bus was en route from eastern Punjab province to the southern port city of Karachi when the accident occurred.
Initial police investigation showed that the careless driving and overspeeding by the bus driver caused the accident.
