Erika revealed that the initial impact occurred on May 10th at 16:45 UT, causing a seismic disturbance in Earth's magnetic field and igniting a severe (G4-class) geomagnetic storm.

Despite the initial intensity, Erika cautioned that the tempest was far from subsiding. With more CMEs forecasted to barrage Earth over the following 24-48 hours, the potential for exacerbating the already vigorous conditions loomed large.
