Gaza Strip - May 12, 2024

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched a significant operation in multiple areas of the Gaza Strip following calls for civilian evacuation and intelligence reports indicating Hamas's efforts to rebuild its terrorist infrastructure.

In the Jabaliya area, civilians were urged to temporarily relocate to shelters in western Gaza City as IDF troops commenced operations overnight. Prior to ground forces' entry, Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets and other aircraft targeted approximately 30 terror sites, resulting in the elimination of several Hamas militants.

Concurrently, precise operations are ongoing in eastern Rafah and the Gazan side of the Rafah Crossing, guided by IDF and ISA intelligence. Troops have located and neutralized tunnel shafts and rocket launchers aimed at Israeli territory. Additionally, ten armed Hamas operatives were intercepted exiting terrorist infrastructure, with IDF forces swiftly eliminating the threat.

In the Zeitoun area of northern Gaza, IDF units continue efforts to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and eliminate militants. Close-quarter combat led to the elimination of several terrorists, while IAF airstrikes targeted additional militants and destroyed weapons caches. Two terrorists firing upon IDF troops were neutralized by an IAF aircraft.

Over the past day, the IDF has conducted widespread airstrikes, targeting more than 150 terror sites across Gaza, including weapon storage facilities, rocket launch sites, observation posts, and tunnel networks.
