A pet dog who lost his front legs after being hit by a train has won the hearts of onlookers with his struggles to walk - hobbling along on his back legs like a kangaroo.

The ten-year-old Chihuahua pooch named Moo Yor lost his front limbs when he went missing and wandered onto the local train tracks in Buriram province, Thailand on May 8.

He survived being hit by the locomotive but his legs needed to be removed because of the severity of the injuries.

Despite having difficulty walking, Moo Yor has remained playful and loves exploring, inspiring passersby he is seen wandering around.

Footage shows Moo Yor using his hind legs to stand and push himself forward near a school where he lives with his owner.

Pet owner Maneerat Pornpinyoying, 38, said: 'Eight years ago, my parents returned from their exercise routine but couldn't find Moo Yor.

'The next day, railway station staff arrived asking us whose dog was lost, and informing us that Moo Yor had been hit by a train.

'We took him to the animal hospital. I felt pity for him and didn't know what to do.

'The surgery lasted two hours, provided free of charge by the doctor.  Afterwards, Moo Yor returned to our home for recovery.'

Medics found that Moo Yor would struggle with his memory due to brain damage but remained sweet and loving despite the injury.

Maneerat added: ‘He has been such a sweet dog. He loves to run around with missing legs. Now e is afraid to wander away and avoids the area near the train.

‘Some people criticise me for why we didn't make a wheelchair for him, but he likes to move around like that. We give him all the space he needs.'
