Dancer, 17, breaks leg after being forced into position by teacher
This is the horrifying moment a teenage female ballerina broke her leg while being forced into a full stretch by a teacher.
The seventeen-year-old student underwent two surgeries to fix the bone in her thigh and was told by the doctor that she could no longer dance.
Footage shows the group of dancers assisting in stretching her legs into a split position when they suddenly heard a cracking sound from her leg at the Yuanlun Education Dance Training Institution in Chongqing, China, on March 25.
The victim said: 'At the moment when the bone broke, it was so loud that I thought the chair was broken, but when I turned my head and found that the classmate next to me was crying, I realized that it was my leg.'
The teacher responsible for the incident said she is willing to pay only 50,000 Chinese yuan (5,516.66 GBP).
Chinese gymnastic pupils are often pushed to extreme lengths in order to achieve success. Failure is seen as deeply shameful in the country's culture - casting a cloud on the youngster's family for years to come.
