Chinese police nab fugitive attempting ID renewal
Police apprehended a fugitive attempting ID renewal in southern China.
The CCTV footage was filmed in Taizhou City in Zhejiang Province on May 6.
An online fugitive appeared at the Tian'e County Government Service Centre, seeking to renew his identity card. The vigilant police officers at the window immediately recognised his identity and swiftly devised a clever plan to ensure his capture.
Huang Zizhen, Deputy Captain of the Household Registration Management Brigade of Tian'e County Public Security Bureau, explained: "Huang came to the police window claiming his ID card was lost and requested a replacement. Auxiliary police officer Wei Qiaohui noticed something unusual during the processing and promptly reported Huang's situation to me."
To avoid alerting the fugitive, auxiliary police officer Wei cited a problem with the household registration system and requested Deputy Captain Huang's assistance in resolving the "malfunction," buying more time for the apprehending officers.
Simultaneously, Wei reported Huang's information to the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the bureau for further verification.
In less than 10 minutes, two officers from the Criminal Investigation Brigade arrived at the scene and successfully apprehended Huang, escorting him for further investigation.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that Huang was wanted by the police, for suspected involvement in the production and sale of counterfeit products since January this year.
Currently, the suspect Huang has been temporarily detained by the police.
