This is the scary moment a climber hundreds of feet up while scaling a sheer cliff face discovers loose screws in a fixture holding up a cable he is using on the side of the mountain.

The incident took place in the Yandang Mountains, in, Zhejiang, China, on May 5, with images recorded by the climber showing that the climbing rope's fixed-point screws were loose.

The video shows the climber filming himself hundreds of feet off the ground, panning the camera right to show the vast panorama before easily removing a loose screw from the fixed point he is attached to.

The mountain's management said that the line was regularly inspected and maintained.

But they also said that the trail would be closed until May 23 while they installed additional foot positions.

They assured climbers and tourists that the trail was safe, saying: 'The loosening of the screws will not affect safety.

'This steel cable is fixed at 300 points, one point every three meters, and it is pulled at more than 100 points, so even if 10 points are lost, it will not affect safety.'

The staff also said that they would be fixed as soon as possible and that the project was undergoing maintenance and a major overhaul.
