A pilot delivered a heartwarming announcement to passengers during a flight on Mother's Day.

Sameera Shamsuddin took the handset shortly before departure and addressed all the mums onboard the flight with low-cost carrier IndiGo in Delhi, India.

She said: 'Today we celebrate Mother's Day here at Indigo. So, from one mother to another, firstly I would like to wish all the mothers onboard today a very happy Mother's Day.'

During the heartwarming gesture, each mother was presented with a personalised card containing a message of empowerment.

Sameera then requested all mothers to raise their hands in a gesture of gratitude.

She said: 'We have a little surprise for all of you today. And it is a very important message which I hope is sent across very well to have many aviators in the future.

'Save a daughter and force her to go to school. Set your daughter up as a pilot.'

The women proudly displayed the cards and took pictures with their children after receiving them.

Mother's Day is celebrated across the world on the second Sunday of May each year. It is a day dedicated to recognising the often overlooked contributions of mothers.
