This is the shocking moment an airport ground worker fell from a plane when bungling colleagues moved the ladder away.

The employee had just finished pre-flight checks before the Airbus A320 operated by TransNusa was about to depart from Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 14.

However, two colleagues on the ground began pushing back the ladders that passengers use for boarding and leaving the aircraft.

As the man in a high-vis yellow vest holding papers went to step on the platform - while looking back into the plane - he missed the ladders.

Footage shows him plunging some 15ft onto the ground below as his documents flew through the air.

The worker received treatment for his injuries and was taken to the main terminal at the Jakarta Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

The plane, registration PK-TLB, departed almost 50 minutes behind schedule.

Officials at TransNusa have now reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, which is understood to have broken aviation laws by preventing ladders from being removed while the cabin door is still open.
