On May 5th, in Sihui City, Zhaoqing, southern China, an ostrich suddenly appeared running on the streets, then calmly strolled into a supermarket.

Surveillance footage shows the ostrich strutting into the supermarket, surprising shoppers with its sudden appearance. Some used plastic chairs to guide it out of the supermarket.

As the ostrich exited the supermarket, it attracted a crowd of onlookers. A restaurant owner described seeing the ostrich in front of a nearby shop. It lingered at the shop's entrance, and the staff dared not come out, eventually closing the shop door. According to the owner, the ostrich did not attack anyone and stayed on the street for about twenty minutes, drawing a crowd of spectators. However, nobody dared to approach it. People were scared because the ostrich was about two to three meters tall, and nobody dared to catch it. Eventually, it ran away on its own.

A staff member from the Forestry Bureau of Sihui City explained that the ostrich escaped from a private breeding farm. After the police controlled the ostrich that afternoon, the owner of the farm arrived and took it back.

The video was provided with permission from local media.
