Eminonu, Turkey - May 15, 2024

A march was held in Istanbul on the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, which the Palestinian people describe as a "great disaster" that has developed since the establishment of Israel.

Thousands of people gathered in Eminonu to protest the massacres committed by Israel in Gaza. Slogans such as "Murderer Israel, get out of Palestine" and "Long live the global Intifada" were chanted during the march.

The international boycott and sanctions movement against Israel "BDS", and many socialist parties supported the march. The march ended in EminonuSquare. Nihle Kale read the joint press statement here.

Nihle Kale (Press Release): "Today is the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, the great disaster of the Palestinian people. Today is the anniversary of the forced exile of the Palestinian people from their homeland to all over the world, with the declaration of the racist occupying Israeli regime that settled in our region with the political and military support of Western colonialism. Today, we are not commemorating a past pain here. The Nakba did not end in 1948 or 1967. Occupation, blockade, checkpoints, apartheid wall, extrajudicial arrests, torture, child captives, indiscriminate bombing of all parts of Palestine, attempts to erase the Palestinian identity of cities and neighborhoods continue. The attack on the Palestinian people and land, which has been going on for decades, has now turned into a wholesale destruction and genocidal attack in front of the eyes of the whole world. Palestinians in Gaza, who have been living under blockade for 16 years, are trying to survive under a complete siege after October 7. In addition to dozens of attacks that constitute war crimes, they want to break the will of the Palestinian people through hunger by preventing basic goods from entering Gaza, destroying agricultural areas. With this genocidal attack of the occupying state, it is aimed to turn Gaza into a huge cemetery with no Palestinians left."
