Royal Navy Merlin Helicopters Flying in Support of Ten Tors & Jubilee challenges on Dartmoor
Royal Navy Merlin Helicopters from 846 Naval Air Squadron of the Commando Helicopter Force are flying during Excerise Wyvern Tor. The Helicopters are part of a large team of armed forces, agencies, and enablers bought together to ensure the safe delivery of the Ten Tors and Jubilee challenges on Dartmoor over the weekend of 10th-12th May 2024. The Helicopters assist with equipment/delivery/pick up, personell distribution, Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC) if required etc and other suitable tasking. The area is also a designated Low Flying Area so the aircrews are trained to operate in the varied landscape/countryside and terrain that Dartmoor offers.
