Roaming Leopard in Baripada town area was rescued by the forest department of STR (Similipal Tiger Reserve)

A Leopard tiger was spotted roaming in Baripada town in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on today (Friday) morning. Following the incident, a panic has been created in the town.
According to sources, the big cat was seen roaming in the Bhanjapur area of the town. On receiving information, forest department officials reached the spot and initiated a search operation with a rescue vehicle and expertise team.
The leopard left the forest and entered the locality in search of food.A man spotted a leopard while taking his child to school early in the morning, then he called the forest department and reported it.
Dr. *Samrat Gouda*, Deputy Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve speaks,
We get to know from a local person that a leopard has entered the locality. Quickly we deployed the tranquilizer team to the spot to rescue the leopard. After three to four hours of tireless work, the forest department officials managed to rescue the tiger. After tranquilizing the tiger has now regained consciousness.
Now the tiger has been kept under the custody of the forest department.
After two days of observation, the tiger will be released into the forest on the advice of senior officials he added.
As the town is near the Similipal National Park, wild animals are often seen roaming near and inside the town. Earlier, a leopard was spotted in Jagannathpur village on the side of Lulung Road under the Baripada forest division in the Mayurbhanj district.
