The Baltimore bridge collapse clean-up continues as the command team prepares for the removal of M/V Dali ship.

The Unified Command for the Francis Scott Key Bridge Response said it is intensifying its efforts to facilitate the removal of the vessel from the Fort McHenry Federal Channel in Baltimore, Maryland.

As of May 15, preparations are underway to address the vessel's presence in the waterway. It added that one of its objectives is prioritizing the safety of both the public and first responders involved in the operation.

It said efforts are focused on efficiently restoring the functionality of the marine transportation system and facilitating commerce in the area and environmental protection measures are being implemented alongside support for ongoing investigations related to the incident.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge was destroyed when the Dali cargo vessel reportedly lost power before ramming into a support pillar, plunging the structure into the river as it fell apart within seconds early morning on March 26.

The ship's pilot reportedly issued a 'mayday call' minutes before the collision, allowing Maryland transportation officers to stop oncoming traffic onto the bridge.
