This is the dramatic moment a wild monkey caused chaos when it broke into a girl's dormitory.

Ms Lu was about to go to classes when she spotted the primate pilfering food in their dormitory room at Guiyang University in Guizhou, China, on May 14.

Footage shows the animal sitting on a chair and even climbing onto the bed bunks to look for snacks.

The student was heard screaming and attempting to shoo away the furry creature, but it just ignored her.

Fortunately, her roommate was able to remove it from the dorm. She even had a video in order to prove to the teacher that she was late because a monkey broke into her room.

Ms Lu said: 'The monkey seemed quite well-behaved, it didn't even mess up our shoes that we left on the balcony.'

Prior to being discovered, the monkey had already eaten some vegetables in the next room and consumed drinks on their balcony.

The school building is next to the Qianling Mountains, where there is a forest park nearby. Monkeys often forage for food in the area.

The school's security office strongly advised students not to interact with these animals to prevent harm.
