Brunswick County, NC, USA - May 14, 2024

In a rather unusual call of duty, deputies from Brunswick County found themselves face to face with a sizable reptilian resident on Thursday evening. Responding to multiple reports of an alligator loitering near the base of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, Deputies Branch, Sutton, and Nichter sprang into action to ensure the safety of both motorists and the reptilian wanderer.

The deputies safely removed the alligator not once, but twice, from Highway 17S, a vital thoroughfare entering Brunswick County. Their swift and decisive action prevented potential traffic hazards and ensured the creature's well-being.

Despite the unexpected encounter, both wildlife and law enforcement personnel emerged unscathed from the incident. The successful resolution serves as a testament to the dedication and resourcefulness of our deputies, who bravely navigate unexpected challenges in their line of duty.
