Mottingham residents march in bid to save The Porcupine pub

Campaigners braved the weather and took to the streets of Mottingham in protest against the closure of The Porcupine pub. Residents say there has been a pub on the site since around 1650 and it is an invaluable piece of their heritage.

The march supported by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) started from Mottingham Station and finished with a rally at the boarded up pub.

Last month, The Porcupine was awarded Asset of Community Value status, which could thwart German chain Lidl's plans to demolish the pub and build a supermarket on the site.
