Toddler seen perched on 22nd floor window sill taken into care
A toddler who was seen perched on the 22nd floor window sill of a building was taken into care.
The two-year-old youngster was allegedly left alone in the house and climbed up the window when his mother went out to watch a football match with her boyfriend in Krasnodar, Russia.
Footage shows the little boy wearing only a diaper as he was seen balancing on the ledge over the 350ft-drop with panicked neighbours watching from the other side.
Upon being reported, neighbours and security guards went to the unit and retrieved the boy who was unharmed.
Neighbour Yana said: ‘We saw it all from the balcony. Honestly, it was so scary. Especially when the child threw out some things. I was afraid that he would fall after his toys.'
A neighbour who also saw the kid shouted to scare him back inside.
She said: ‘I called from below. I couldn't run to the house bcause the baby crawled out on the ledge. He heard my loud screams and he stopped.'
Security guard Nazi Shiraliev and his partner said they rushed to the flat to check on the boy. He said: ‘They leave the child like this very often. The neighbours also told us. This was not the first time.
‘They called us for help and of course, we ran to the 22nd flood and broke down the door.
‘There were still people with us. We all ran into the apartment together and literally snatched the child from the windowsill.'
The boy was taken into custody by child welfare officials and his mother is now being investigated by the police.
Artem Konovalenko, head of the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Krasnodar, said: 'An administrative protocol has been drawn up for improper performance of parental responsibilities against a mother who left her young child alone at home unattended with open windows in the apartment.'
