The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it uncovered a video of a kidnapped girl being made to film a hostage video by Hamas fighters.

The previously unreleased clip, which the IDF uncovered on May 19, shows Ela Elyakim, 8, pleading to be freed from her captors.

The youngster, seen standing next to a Hamas flag, said in the video: 'I am Ela Elyakim, Noam's daughter. I am eight years old and I am asking Bi to release us. I am a Hamas hostage.'

Ela and her sister Dafna, 15, were captured by Hamas, while their father, Noam, his partner, Dikla, and Dikla's son, Tomas, were killed in the October 7 attack.

The sisters were released on November 26 last year following a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, brokered by Qatar and the US.

Israel has blitzed the Gaza Strip in retaliation for an attack by the governing party Hamas on a Jewish music festival On 7 October last year.

However, the situation - which Israel claims is self-defence - has attracted criticism from around the world.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) chief prosecutor this week sought an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes and crime against humanity.
