STORYLINE:

Thanks to a China-built relocation project, villagers in Cote d'Ivoire are now envisioning a better future.

The Dry Port Resettlement Village is located 15 km north of the northern town of Ferkessédougou.

As a key project under China-Africa cooperation, the project has greatly improved locals' living conditions.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): LUO LIN, Site manager of Dry Port of Complant Ltd. branch in Cote d'Ivoire
"The main purpose of building the new resettlement village is for the dry port project. This project covers an area of 740 hectares and encompasses three natural villages. In order to build the dry port and also to improve the local people's lives, we moved all the people living in the area of the dry port to the resettlement village."

SOUNDBITE 2 (French): DOULAYE SILUÉ, Soromadjoukaha village chief
"The conditions in the village we used to live in were very poor. The villagers lived a very difficult life. There was no running water, no electricity, and almost nothing. Now that there is a new resettlement village, the villagers have all moved into new houses. We can use both water and electricity at home, which is really great."

SOUNDBITE 3 (French): SORO MADOU, Villager
"We are all very satisfied with this new village. It has a lot of space. Not only a football field, but also a hospital outpatient clinic, so that we can get medical treatment in the village. Every household has electricity, and our life in the new village has become very convenient."

Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Abidjan.
