A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for southeastern Nueces County and central Kleberg County in south central Texas. The weather event, which began at 11:14AM CDT and was expected to last until 12:15PM CDT, was located near Riviera, just 8 miles north of Sarita. The storm, moving at a speed of 35 mph, was identified by radar and expected to produce quarter size hail, potentially causing damage to vehicles. The areas impacted included Corpus Christi, Riviera Beach, Flour Bluff, Riviera, Ricardo, Kings Crossing Subdivision, Padre Balli Park, Waldron Field, Malaquite Beach, Loyola Beach, Chapman Ranch, and Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. The storm also affected the stretch of US Highway 77 between mile markers 698 and 708.
