Controversy erupts as Chinese students obliged to destroy phones in classroom water bucket
Controversy erupted as students obliged to destroy their phones in a water bucket at a classroom in southern China.
The video was filmed in Shangrao City in Jiangxi Province on May 21. Students lined up to toss their phones into a water-filled bucket for destruction, eliciting gasps from onlookers.
A parent of a student revealed in an interview that the school's move has been agreed and authorised by some parents.
On May 22nd, the staff of the Wannian County Education and Sports Bureau said that it was investigating the matter and would be handled according to regulations once verified.
A netizen commented on Chinese social media,Weibo, "It is too much. The problem of bringing mobile phones into school can be solved through other ways". While another person said: ''you can just throw the phones of those students whose parents agreed the move."
