Egg-sized hail hammers China’s Shijiazhuang
On the evening of May 19, 2024, hail and heavy rainfall struck Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China.
Video footage shows that the sudden extreme weather caused streets to flood, making it difficult for vehicles to navigate.
According to local reports, several roads in Shijiazhuang were severely flooded, trapping some vehicles. An interviewee mentioned that the hailstorm lasted for at least 20 minutes, with the largest hailstones being as big as eggs.
The Shijiazhuang Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow lightning warning and a blue heavy rain warning later that evening. It is anticipated that heavy rainfall will continue in the city over the next 12 hours, prompting authorities to advise residents to travel safely.
