At least 4 killed as massive fire breaks out in India factory after boiler blast

At least 4 people were killed and 25 severely injured after a major fire broke out in the industrial area of Dombivli following a boiler explosion at the Amber Chemical Company on Thursday (May 23).

Huge plumes of smoke were visible as the sound of the explosion reportedly reached as far as three kilometres away from the blast site. The fire spread to nearby factories, and the entire area is being evacuated.

Yasin Tadvi, chief of the disaster management cell of the Thane civic body, stated that the explosion tore through the chemicals factory around 1:40 p.m..

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that eight people who were trapped on the premises have been rescued.

“Arrangements have been made to treat the injured, and more ambulances have been prepared. I have discussed with the Thane collector, and they are also on their way to the scene... Teams from NDRF, TDRF, and the fire brigade have been summoned,” he said. “I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he added.
