President Joko Jokowi Widodo and First Lady Iriana left for the province of West Sumatra on Tuesday morning, 21 May, to directly inspect the regions affected by flash floods and cold lava flows.

They departed on Indonesian Presidential Aircraft 1. The Presidential Secretariat reported in writing that the party took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta at around 06:30 local time.

After landing at Minangkabau International Airport, Padang Pariaman, the President would drive directly to one of the disaster-hit localities in Agam regency and then proceed to Batu Taba camp to supervise the emergency response post. He will also deliver compensation and aid to the families of the victims.
