A tornado formation was captured on video in Nevada, Iowa.

Footage shows the dark clouds converging into a funnel-shaped weather phenomenon on May 21. The Nevada Fire Department immediately issued a warning, advising residents to steer clear of the area spanning from S-14 to S-27, 270th up to Highway 30.

The fire department provided updates on the extent of the damage inflicted in the area the next day, May 22.

After assessing the north and south of the city, they recorded 53 affected properties. The cleanup process is ongoing, with more than 70 electric company vehicles restoring power that affected 500 people.

The tornado destroyed up to six homes and damaged numerous others. Four people were injured, and one was hospitalised, as it ripped through the Cambridge area and traversed southward to Mccallsburg's fire district. The storm's intensity peaked near 270th Street, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
