Guatemala: Aerial Surveillance Identifies 13 Active Wildfire Hotspots

In a concerted effort to combat wildfires ravaging parts of Guatemala, authorities conducted aerial surveillance over key areas, including El Mirador, Sierra Las Minas, El Estor, and Izabal. The reconnaissance mission revealed the presence of 13 active hotspots, underscoring the severity of the ongoing wildfire crisis in the region.

The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) remains at the forefront of suppression efforts, deploying resources and personnel to contain the blazes and protect vulnerable communities and natural habitats. Despite the challenges posed by rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions, firefighting teams are tirelessly working to extinguish the flames and prevent further spread.
