STORYLINE:
The 6th phase of the Indian general election kicked off on Saturday with millions of Indian citizens heading to the polls to cast their votes.
This phase includes voting in the Indian capital, New Delhi, as well as in several other states across the country. Voters in 58 constituencies are participating in this phase of the election, with over 100 million voters eligible to cast their ballots.
Security has been tightened in all polling areas to ensure a smooth and peaceful voting process.
The Election Commission of India has made extensive arrangements to facilitate the voting process, with thousands of polling stations set up to accommodate the large number of voters.
According to the schedule released by the Election Commission of India, the election is being conducted in seven phases. The final phase of voting is set to take place on June 1. The counting of votes will then be conducted on June 4.
