SOUNDBITE (Korean): LEE HEE-SUP, Secretary-general of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat
"As you can see, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the launch of the China-Japan-ROK cooperation.
We have continuously expanded and deepened cooperation in various fields, such as economy and trade, social and cultural exchanges, youth exchanges, personnel exchanges and political security.
The trilateral summit meeting among China, Japan and South Korea will be held again after four and a half years. Therefore, I believe that cooperation between the three countries will regain vitality and become an important opportunity to revitalize various exchanges and cooperation. In fact, the world is now being affected by trade protectionism, armed conflicts and climate change.
At such a critical moment, the resumption of the meeting signifies that the leaders of the three countries will gather together to discuss mutual cooperation and future development directions. This is a very important opportunity."
