Dombivli chemical factory blast toll rises to 11,over 60 injured

The death toll in the chemical factory blast in Dombivli of Thane district rose to eleven on Saturday with the rescuers recovering one more body while clearing the debris at the spot. A boiler blast and the resultant fire in Amudan Chemicals, located in Phase 2 of Dombivli MIDC, on Thursday, killed nine persons and injured more than 60.

Officials said it is difficult to find out the exact number of people who died in the blast as body parts have been recovered from the site.

According to the KDMC release, 68 people were injured in the accident of whom 42 have been discharged.
The remaining 26 patients are admitted to different hospitals in the area and 12 of them are in the ICU, it said.
All the patients are stable now, the release said.
