Mysterious object beleived to be meteorite causes 5-foot deep crater in India
On May 23, a mysterious object fell onto farmer Ravi's land in the Achamangalam Panchayat, next to Jolarpet in Tirupathur district, sin South india. As a result, a crater approximately 5 feet in diameter was formed.
Thirumalai, also from the same area, witnessed this event but initially dismissed it as an ordinary ditch. However, upon returning to the site, he noticed significant heat emanating from the crater.
Upon hearing of the incident, villagers gathered in the area and panicked, unsure of the nature of the mysterious object.
The District Collector conducted an investigation into the matter. The District Science Center Officer arrived at the scene and collected soil and ash samples from the 5-foot trench, as well as soil samples from the vicinity of the crater.
These samples were sent to the National Institute of Technology University in Chennai for analysis.
According to the scientist, the mysterious substance that fell in the area was coal, which turned the soil into ash upon impact. He explained that it likely originated as a visible asteroid between the planets Mars and Jupiter, and transformed into igneous rock as it approached Earth.
The true identity of the mysterious object that fell in the area will only be revealed after the examination of the samples."
