Solar halo like eye in sky appears over China
A solar halo that looked like an eye in the sky appeared over China.
Footage shows the glowing ring of light surrounding the sun which made it resemble a giant eyeball on the horizon as seen from Yunnan province on May 21.
Li Xiaopeng, the director of Kunming Meteorological Observatory, told local media that a solar halo, also known as a circular rainbow, is an optical phenomenon that happens when sunlight passes through clouds and is refracted or reflected by ice crystals. It is then dispersed into different colours of light and in different directions.
