Talents from around the world are set to gather in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality for the second Belt and Road International Skills Competition.

Chatvarin Klongnoy, gold medalist of restaurant service at the first edition, sent her blessings from Thailand.

"It was very challenging for me that I would like to go out of Thailand to have the competition at the first time, and also exciting as I went to China too. For the feeling I cherished all the moments from the first day until the last day. I remembered all the organization team that provided all of the accommodation for the site of competition and also with the volunteers that supported us. I would like to say thank you very much that the competition gave the chance that brought me to show the best of myself. For the Belt and Road (International Skills Competition) for the second time, I would like to say something with the competitors that will join this time. I would like all of you to bring your best to show us. Because this stage it will bring the opportunity. After finishing the competition, you will have the relationship with your friends. You will see techniques from the other countries. You have to get something that quite valuable for you to the future occupation. Skill cooperation, joint development, I wish the Belt and Road International Skills Competition a complete success."

The competition, scheduled for June 24-26, will feature 18 events that cover a wide range of industries including digital construction, electrical installation, hairdressing, coffee-making, industrial robot system operation and internet marketing, according to a press conference held on Monday.

Other activities, including skills demonstrations and themed seminars, will also be held alongside the competition.

So far, over 300 participants, including contestants, referees and other related personnel, have registered to attend the event. The contestants come from more than 60 countries and regions participating in Belt and Road cooperation or which are affiliated with WorldSkills International, an association dedicated to promoting vocational education and training.

The skills competition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the National Development and Reform Commission, the China International Development Cooperation Agency and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government.

The competition's first edition was held in 2019 in Chongqing, and featured contestants from 44 countries and regions.
