Stranded rock climbers were rescued from a cliff in the Balearic Islands, Spain.

The mountain and aerial rescue teams operated to save three climbers stranded on a sheer cliff face in Entreforc, scaling over 200 metres on May 18.

The climbers could not retrieve their climbing ropes at a crucial point, leaving them stranded without a means to rappel down to safety.

Rescue specialists from the Guardia Civil employed a helicopter hovering over the trapped climbers and a specialized device called the 'Lezard interface,'

The complex manoeuvre deployed 80 metres of cable from the helicopter's crane amid challenging terrain.

Once safely aboard the aircraft, the climbers were assessed and found to be in stable condition.
